Water is removed from the electrolyte (KOH) by electrodialysis. The cells is subdivided into an anolyte and catholyte space, contg. a hydrazine anode and an oxygen cathode. The latter is coated with an asbestos membrane with a thickened fringe zone which is impermeable to the electrolyte and includes supply channels. This cell is simpler to mfr. and has a simpler function because it requires no additional hydrogen electrode, additional fuel or elements.
