The cattle truck is fitted with a lifting floor whose corners are provided with captive nuts threaded on vertical shafts. The shafts are rotated by servo motors under the floor of the vehicle to raise and lower the lifting floor. The system enables the floor to be raised the full extent inside the vehicle to provide maximum headroom for cleaning, etc. The threaded shafts are simpler to operate than individual hydraulic rams and occupy less space. A single servo motor can be provided, linked to the other shafts by a belt drive. More than one floor can be fitted, using special nuts which can uncouple from the shafts.
