<p>The propulsion and/or lift system using jet energy comprises an orifice (1) or orifices with one baffle (6) downstream set parallel to the boundary of the jet (2) and a second baffle (7) at right angles to the jet centreline (4) attached to the end remote from the orifice of the first baffle. The presence of these two baffles results in the static component (5) of jet energy being utilised, augmenting the total energy available for movement in direction 'A'. The effect is maximised if a gap for air entrainment is left between the orifice and the longitudinal baffle (6); further baffles (8) parallel to the jet centreline or boundary may be added to produce a 4-sided casing. The system works best with rectangular orifice and the first baffle (6) parallel to the long side.</p> |
