The hook-ended rod on the bicycle luggage rack is used for locking the hinged clamping frame. This clamping frame is spring-loaded in the closing direction and the hook-ended rod keep the frame in the open position when required. The hook clamp is situated at the rear end of the luggage frame and can be rotated to engage the fixed luggage frame. The hooked rod and clamping frame are readily operated with one hand. The rod (8) has a hook at each end (10, 11) and is pivoted on the transverse member (7) of the hinged frame (5) above the axis of the rod. The hook rod (8) is bent slightly between its bearing on the plate (17) and the hooked end (11). The bend is in the opposite direction to the hook curvature.
