PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media converter with built-in local information transmitting function which transmits local information by using a frequency which lies outside the communication frequency band of a data signal, and a fault alarm signal communication system. SOLUTION: In a media converter 10 of a subscriber side, a control part 19 determines the transmitting frequency outside the communication frequency band, on the basis of inputted local information and outputs a signal indicating transmission. A media independent interface part 12 receives the signal, and sends out a signal at a designated frequency. In an office side media converter 30, a media-independent interface part 32 detects a frequency for transmitting the local information from a received signal. A control part 37 forms the local information, by using the detected frequency, and outputs the information to an SNMP unit. |
