PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the security of a credit system that uses a credit medium by preventing illicit use of credit media such as credit cards by forging, falsification, illicit copy, etc. SOLUTION: When a card is registered in a database 192 used to manage customers of a credit card company 198, the facial portrait data of the owner of the card as well as normal individual information are registered in such a way that the facial portrait data correspond to the number of the credit card. When the card is used at any of affiliated stores 194 to 196, the card number is checked against the database 192 through a card connection device 197 installed there and a communication line 193 to receive the corresponding facial portrait data for display on the card connection device 197. By checking to see if the facial portrait displayed coincides with the feature of a person carrying the card, a determination is made as to whether or not the person carrying the card is the card owner; after the person is verified as the card owner, merchandise or service is provided. |
