1463618 Preparation of 5-chloro-2-toluidine HOECHST AG 8 April 1974 [18 April 1973] 15452/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the preparation of the hydrochloride of 5-chloro-2- toluidine which comprises reacting a suspension of 2-toluidine hydrochloride in a halohydrocarbon with not more than 1À2 moles of chlorine per mole of 2-toluidine hydrochloride at a temperature of from 10-70‹ C. and optionally liberating the free toluidine by treating the so produced hydrochloride with an aqueous base.
