1463240 Treating waste water by electroflotation ETUDES ET PROCEDES D'ASSAINISSEMENT PURATOR 14 May 1975 [14 May 1974] 20447/75 Heading C1C [Also in Division C7] Aqueous effluent is subjected to electroflotation between electrodes containing a metal which is attacked by nascent oxygen under electrolysis conditions to yield the metal hydroxide using a D.C. which is reversed once every 10 to 3600 seconds. Electrodes containing Al, Mg, Fe or Zn are suitable and corrosion of each electrode is maintained constant by using electrodes of equal size and shape or by appropriate adjustment of the current intensity and reversal frequency. The electrodes may comprise a pair of comb structures arranged with the teeth intermeshing and coated with varnish at their interface. They may be perforated or not, in the latter case the lower surfaces are also varnished. Abattoir effluent, urban waste water and a hydrocarbon emulsion may be treated. |
