1463615 Counting papers GRAPHIC ENGS Inc 1 April 1974 [2 April 1973] 14374/74 Headings B8R and B8A Shingled papers 32 are counted by photoelectric cell 36 as they pass from an upper conveyer belt to a lower one, with their leading edges constrained between wheels 50 and the earlier papers of the shingle and their trailing edges caused to flip in succession to break a light beam from a lamp 34. Guide rollers 38 support the trailing edges after the papers have left the upper conveyer and while their leading edges are bent down sharply by the wheels 50 to engage the lower conveyer. As each trailing edge clears the rollers 38 it moves to take up position on the lower conveyer, and momentarily interrupts the light beam.
