The invention relates to a process for preparation of material based on carbon by electro-beam evaporation in vacuum. The process comprises disposition in vacuum chamber of evaporated carbon-containing material, disposition of refractory material on the surface of said evaporated carbon-containing material, heating said refractory material and evaporated carbon-containing material with electron beam with subsequent evaporation of said carbon-containing material and sedimentation of vapor flow in the form of material based on carbon on the surface of substrate. According to the invention said refractory material is disposed on the surface of evaporated carbon-containing material in the form of cylindrical solid reactor with at least one through orifice between its lower and upper surfaces. The reactor is heated to the temperature, which is lower than temperature of melting the reactor material, but higher than pyrolysis temperature of evaporated carbon material, and solid hydrocarbon is used as evaporated carbon-containing material. The invention increases the productivity of the process for obtaining materials based on carbon.
