PURPOSE:To perform good recording stably by a method wherein an opening closing means which interrupts or opens an interconnecting state of a supply passage interconnected to both a recording head and an ink tank is made to execute at least two recovery operations which are different in an operation state. CONSTITUTION:Ink 1 is supplied to a head 1 from an ink reserving part 90 via an opening and closing valve. In recovery, the ink and/or air are sucked from a recording head 1 with a pump 26 via a cap 22 to be stored in a waste ink reservoir 91. Since recovery of ordinary discharge inferiority such as increase of viscosity of the ink at an ordinary nozzle tip, a slight amount bubbles of the nozzle, etc. is sufficed only by sucking the ink from the nozzle, suction by J wherein sucking operation is 1-2 times preformed is performed. Since it is required that a great amount of ink and/or air are sucked when an ink cartridge and the head are exchanged, suction by I is performed and thereafter, suction by J is performed. Selection of both modes is executed with a cam structure. |
