<p>PURPOSE:To switch whether a unrecorded part is continued to be reproduced or stopped/rewound according to the difference whether a tape is an unrecorded tape or an already recorded tape where recording is executed halfway by discriminating a recording medium according to the outputs of a starting end detection means and a reproducing signal detection means. CONSTITUTION:A first counter 107 counts an unrecording term according to the output of the reproducing signal detection means 106 and inputs the counted result to a recording medium discrimination means 108. The means 108 discriminates whether the recording medium which is reproduced is the unrecorded tape or the unrecorded part of the already recorded tape where the recording is executed halfway based on information from the starting end detection means 105 and the first counter 107. According to the discriminated result, a system control part 109 continues a reproducing mode when the recording medium is the unrecorded tape and switches the mode to a stop mode when it is the unrecorded part of the already recorded tape. Thus, the unrecorded part of the already recorded recording medium is prevented from being unnecessarily continued to be reproduced. On the other hand, the reproducing mode can be continued as much as the time required for cleaning a cleaning tape.</p> |
