PURPOSE:To obtain a data recording medium excellent in light fastness by providing a recording layer composed of a mixture consisting of a cyanine dye and a specific diimmonium compound on a substrate and providing a reflecting layer on the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A data recording medium is constituted by providing a recording layer consisting of a cyanine dye and a diimmonium compound represented by general formula (I) on a substrate and providing a reflecting layer on the recording layer. This data recording medium wherein the dye recording layer consisting of the cyanine dye excellent in recording characteristic and the diimmonium compound whose anion part is a transition metal complex anion is formed on the substrate and the reflecting layer is laminated to the recording layer has high reflectivity, enhanced lightfastness and excellent recording characteristics. Further, by irradiating the data recording medium with laser on the substrate side thereof to deform the recording layer and/or the reflecting layer, a cavity is formed to the interface of the recording layer and the reflecting layer to record data. Data can be recorded in a high C/N ratio with a high modulation degree. |
