The invention comprises reactive dyes of formula wherein n is 1 to 4, m is 1 or 2 and R and R1 are H or alkyl or aryl groups, the aryl groups being substituted or not with C1- 5 alkyl, halogen, nitro, SO3H or COOH. The pyridinium carboxylic acid residue is preferably that of isonicotinic acid. The dyes are prepared by reacting the corresponding monohalotriazinylamino-substituted dyes, in an alkaline medium containing Naions, with a pyridine carboxylic acid or sodidum salt thereof at 60-100 DEG C. The dyes may be used to colour cellulose and polyamide materials by the usual reactive dye processes. In examples the preparation of dyes of the mono- and dis-azo, metallized azo, anthraquinone and phthalocyanine series is described.
