[Also in Division E1] A pit or mine railway comprises a plurality of interconnected rail sections 1 each comprising two spaced channel section rails la, 1b, a male connecting element 7 for sliding transversely into a female connecting element 6 of an adjacent section, and a supporting leg 5 to support the rails away from the ground, the leg being secured to the ground by spikes passing through apertures 5c, 5d in feet 5a, 5b. The members 7 are laterally secured in the members 6 by pins passing through transverse bores in members 7 to engage slots in the members 6. The legs 5 may be of adjustable height. U-shaped clips 11a, 11b prevent the rails from bowing apart, and may be used to mount pulley blocks for a haulage cable for moving trucks along the track. The cylindrical member 7 may have a shoulder at one end to abut the edge of the member 6. The rail sections may comprise a single length of rail for a mono-rail.</p> |
