<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogen occlusion electrode having excellent performance as a whole, by mixing a specific hydrogen occlusion alloy or its hydride and another specific hydrogen storage alloy or its hydride with a suitable amount of binder and press-molding the mixture through a holder. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen occlusion alloy 4 or its hydride 4 in which the surfaces of hydrogen occlusion alloy particles whose basic structure is AB2 type, AB type, or A2B type or those of this hydride particles are partially covered with a conductive metal or conductive ceramic and an uncovered hydrogen storage alloy 5 or its hydride 5 whose basic structure is A'B5 type are mixed with a suitable amount of binder, and the mixture is press-molded through a holder 14. The conductive metal comparatively resists oxygen gas and protects the hydrogen occlusion alloy from oxygen, and the uncovered A'B5 type hydrogen occlusion alloy 5 has an oxygen reduction catalytic action. By synergistic effect of these alloys, a hydrogen occlusion electrode 16 having excellent performance as a whole is obtained. The hydrogen occlusion electrode having large capacity density and discharge capacity is obtained.</p> |
