Readily workable nitrile containing elastomers prepd. using methacrylonitrile, alkylene glycol dimethacrylate and butadiene-1,3. Improved resistance to oils; more easily worked; improved tensile strength. Dimethacrylate has formula:- where R' is an alkylene residue of 2-6C, especially ethylene glycol dimethacrylate; 25-50% methacrylonitrile, 0.5-1.5 dimethacrylate and 50-75% butadiene-1,3; any polymerisation and termination process suitable; conversion 90%. |
