PURPOSE:To reduce both of the manufacture cost of an image bearing body and the maintenance cost of an electrophotographic copying machine by inserting a cylindrical elastic core almost concentrically into the inside of an outer cylinder with a photoconductive layer formed on the circumference so as to bring it optionally into close contact or out of contact with the outer cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical elastic rubber core 30 is inserted into the inside of the outer cylinder 31 made of polyester film, on the surface of the outer cylinder 31 an extremely thin metallic layer 31a is vapor deposited, and this layer 31a is coated with an organic photoconductive layer 31b. The surface of the core 30 is brought into close contact with the inside of the polyester film 31 by sealing a gas from a gas sealing inlet 30a of the core 30. When the photoconductive layer 31b is used up and comes to its end of its life, the inside gas is drawn out to separate the core 30 from the polyester film 31, thus permitting the rubber core 30 to be repeatedly used and accordingly, not only the maintenance cost of the copying machine but also the manufacture cost of the image bearing body to be greatly reduced. |
