摘要 1,156,926. Sheet delivery; stacking; endless conveyers. PILKINGTON BROS. Ltd., R. BARRADELL-SMITH., J. E. HALL, and J. ROBY. 23 Oct., 1967 [26 Oct., 1966], No. 48075/66. Headings B8A and B8R. Glass sheets are stacked by a process which involves lifting the sheets from a conveyer into contact with a movable suction belt, retaining the sheets in contact with the belt during movement towards a stacking station, mechanically prising the leading edge of each sheet in turn from the belt to allow the sheet to drop on to a stack, and positively stopping the advance of each sheet after prising from the belt to accurately align the sheet with the stack. General arrangement (Fig. 2).- Sheets 1 carried on a conveyer 2 from a cutting machine are brought into contact with the lower run 9 (Fig. 3) of a perforated belt 8 by means of suction applied through inlets 54; the belt 8 carries the sheets to a position above a stacking station where further suction inlets 58 are provided, suction to these inlets being removed when the leading edge of a sheet 1 intercepts an air blast from nozzle 63, the increase in back pressure controlling the suction. The sheets are mechanically prised away from the belt 8 by a rotarv device 64 projecting through the lower run 9, and the sheets drop on to a stack which builds up on parallel beams 70 (Fig. 3) carrying cushioning strips 71. Cushioning of dropping sheets is assisted by blast from gas nozzle 75 and the blowing of particulate material, e.g. wood flour, from blower 82. Conveying.-The endless belt 8 is provided with perforations 50, an imperforate central strip 51 and imperforate edges 52. Suction is provided to the lower run of the belt by means of duct 56 the imperforate edges 52 having suction applied thereto through auxiliary ducts 62 to help support the belt. Drive to the belt is supplied through rollers (12), 27 (Fig. 1, not shown) and tension is maintained by roller 47. The conveyer 2 which is mounted in bearings 3 on beams 4 may run in the same direction as belt 8 (Fig. 5, not shown). Table actuation and sheet alignment (Fig. 3).- A sheet prised away from the underneath of the belt still continues to move forward until it contacts pivoted bumper bar 72 which tilts against the action of spring 74 to actuate switch 76; this switch controls motor 77 to cause table 70 to drop by one sheet thickness at a time. When the table is lowered sufficiently, roller conveyer 83 removes the completed stack. The bar 72 aids alignment of the sheets, further aids including the blast from gas nozzle 75, pneumatic rams (not shown), and tilting the belt and the table. Similar retainers &c. can be used for transverse alignment (Fig. 5, not shown), and detecting devices for different sizes of sheets can direct them into alternative receivers (Fig. 4, not shown).
