1,176,499. Lavatory pan with filter. FAIRBANKS MORSE Inc. 14 March, 1967 [18 March, 1966; 9 March, 1967], No. 11997/67. Heading B1D. Sewage from a lavatory pan is filtered off from liquid carrying it before substantial solution, suspension or disintegration takes place. In Figs. 4 and 5 the sewage mixture from a lavatory pan enters through 40 and falls on to an anticlockwise rotating filter comprising discs 52 connected to end plate 53 and 54 by rods 55 and spacers 56, where liquid falls through the discs to be discharged by the right hand conduit. Filtered solid is carried past splash control flap 50 to be removed by finger scrapers 62 and discharged through the left hand conduit. In the event of blockage of the left hand conduit, the filter can be made to rotate in a clockwise direction and the movable baffle 44 withdrawn from the filter to allow solid sewage to be discharged through the right hand conduit. The rotation of the filter may be activated by sewage falling through inlet 40. In the embodiment of Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) the filter comprises an endless moving fine mesh metal screen (8) connected at its edges to belts (9) |
