Plastics bobbin

A plastic bobbin consists of a one piece moulded core having on inner skeletal structure of longitudinal and circumferential runners and an outer sheath supported by the runners, the outer surface of the sheath being formed with circumferential filament guiding grooves. The circumferential runners are thinner than the longitudinal ones to allow for inward flexure of the bobbin to facilitate its removal from the mould in which it was manufactured. Such a bobbin is light-weight and strong and is preferably made from polypropylene.
