A slant plate type compressor includes a compressor housing (11) having a cylinder block (111). A plurality of cylinders (60) are formed around the periphery of the cylinder block and a piston (61) is slidably fitted within each of the cylinders and is reciprocated by a drive mechanism. A crank chamber (12) is formed between the cylinder block and a front end plate (13) of the housing. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft (15) having an end rotatably supported in a bore (112) in the cylinder block, a rotor (30) coupled to the drive shaft and rotatable therewith, and a coupling mechanism (40,50,62) for drivingly coupling the rotor to the pistons so that rotary motion of the rotor is converted into reciprocating motion of the pistons. A spacer (81), which is keyed against rotation in the bore (112), is disposed between an inner axial end surface of the drive shaft and an adjusting screw (17) screwed into the central bore (112) in the cylindrical block. Rotation of the drive shaft does not then tend to rotate the screw (17). |
