<p>Transverse stretching roller associated with a paper web slitting machine is provided along its effective length with rough sections whose coarseness increases towards the ends of the roller the degree of roughness being dictated by the required lateral separation of the slit web portions. Rough surfaces are pref. produced by coating the roller surface with quartz sand embedded in synthetic resin bonding agent. Alternatively metallic particles may be sprayed onto the roller surface or deposit galvanically.</p> |
