1344680 Alkali metal aluminium dialkyl dihydride compositions ETHYL CORP 15 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 48043/71 Heading C2J The solubility of an alkali metal aluminium dialkyl dihydride in a hydrocarbon solvent is increased by addition of 0À5-10% by weight of the solution of an innocuous hydrocarbonsoluble Lewis base. A composition comprising a solution in a hydrocarbon solvent of the dihydride and 0À5-10% by weight of the solution of the base is also claimed. Numerous hydrocarbon solvents and alkali metal aluminium compounds (including Rb[Al(C 12 H 25 ) 2 H 2 ] and Cs[Al(C 18 H 37 ) 2 H 2 ]) are specified. The Lewis base may be an ether, tertiary-amine, -phosphine, -arsine or -stibine, many being specified. In the examples, THF is added to solutions of Na[Al(i-Bu) 2 H 2 ] in toluene and Na[Al(C 2 H 5 ) 2 H 2 ] in (a) toluene and (b) xylene. |
