Cyclododecatriene-(1,5,9) is produced by trimerizing butadiene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a polyalkyltitanate and a dialkylaluminium monochloride. Preferred conditions include the presence of an inert solvent, temperature of - 20‹ to +100‹ C., and a weight ratio of polyalkyltitanate to dialkylaluminium chloride within the range 1 : 2-50 so as to favour the production of the trans, trans, trans-isomer. Some trans, trans, cisisomer is also produced. |
