Composite prods. are made from (1) n unsatd. rubber, e.g. a hydrocarbon rubber, polychloroprene and/or copolymer of chloroprene with a copolymerisable hydrocarbon, and (2) an ester-based polymer selected from (A) a reaction prod. of an aliphatic diol and >=one aromatic cpd. with two acid gps., one contng. -CO- and the other -CO- or being an acidic OH gp., or (B) an elasto-plastic linear block copolymer with >=one block of compsn. as (A), by direct bonding without adhesive. The rubber surface is pre-treated with concn. HNO3, HOCl or substance generating HOCl and the molten polymer (2) is brought into contact with it and allowed to solidify. Strong bonds are obtd. to non-polar rubbers by pretreatment of the surface, without use of adhesives or bonding agents. |
