PURPOSE: To produce a support fabric suitable for supporting chemically aggressive bulk goods too by forming straight warp yarns from a low elongation polyester and other polymer excellent in chemical resistance. CONSTITUTION: The construction of this fabric is such that on exposure of the fabric to a tensile force in the warp direction straight warp yarns absorb a significantly higher proportion of the tensile force than binding warp yarns. The straight warp yarns are mainly composed of polyester and at least one other polymer. The breaking elongation of the straight warp yarns made of polyester is significantly less than that of the straight warp yarns made of the other polymer. The long-term stability of the straight warp yarns made of the other polymer to highly concentrated acids or alkalis at 35 deg.C is significantly higher than that of the straight warp yarns made of polyester.
