发明名称 LIGHT TRANSMISSION TYPE CATHETER
摘要 PURPOSE:To transmit laser beam and illumination beams through a main structure during medical treatment and to decrease a size of a catheter by forming a main structure, where one or a plurality of elongated hollow parts are formed, of an optically transparent resin, and propagating light waves through the resin. CONSTITUTION:In a catheter 1, 2 show a main structure of optically transparent resin, 3 shows a hollow part formed to the axis part of the main structure 2, 4 shows a light reflection layer formed on the outer periphery of the main structure 2 and between the main structure 2 and the hollow part 3, and 5 shows an image transmission substance, e.g. an image fiber, inserted in the hollow part 3. The optically transparent main structure 2 is formed of resin, e.g. polymethylmetacrylate, a stylene-butadien copolymer, having a relatively high index of refraction and being transparent with regard to propagating light waves. The light reflection layer 4 is formed of a transparent substance, e.g. polycarbonate, ethylenevinylacetate, having an optical index of refraction being lower than that of the structure 2 or a metallic film, e.g. silver, aluminum, copper, being abundant in optical reflection.
