PURPOSE:To obtain a colored base material having arbitrary hue, by coating the surface of an org. base material having a particle size of 0.1-10 mm with a mixture consisting of a thermosetting resin, a curing agent and a colorant and subsequently curing the formed film under heating. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an org. base material having a particle size of 0.1-10 mm, for example, a ground material such as wood flour, ground cork, a ground walnut shell, rice hulls, other grain hulls, a ground nut shell or the like is coated with a film composed of a mixture consisting of a thermosetting resin, a curing agent and a colorant. As the thermosetting agent, for example, an unsaturated polyester resin, a vinyl ester resin or the like are disignated and, as the curing agent, for example, there is org. peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide. As the colorant, various inorg. and org. dyes and pigments are used. Subsequently, the film is heated to the reaction temp. of the used curing agent to be sufficiently cured to such a degree that the colored thermosetting resin film is not released. By this method, a colored base material having arbitrary hue is obtained.
