PURPOSE:To facilitate an operation until the completion of on-line connection with an opposite station by executing automatic catalogue control by means of an application control task, a communication management control task and a transmission control task. CONSTITUTION:When an on-line program is started, the application control task 2 selects an unillustrated host computer in accordance with the designation of an operator and communicates a communication start request to the communication management control task 3. The task 3 reads an action condition control file, sets a dial number, a log-on parameter and a transmission/reception action sequence and informs the transmission control task 4 of an automatic dial request. The task 4 automatically originates a host computer in a public communication line network through an RS-232C board 5 and telephone 6 incorporated in MODEM, and the line is connected with the host computer. The task 3 edits an automatic log-on parameter after the completion of line connection and the transmission request of the automatic log-on parameter is informed to the task 4.
