PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer having excellent rigidity, transparency and heat resistance by copolymerizing an alpha-olefin and an alkenylsilane using a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound containing cyclopentadiene (derivative) as a ligand and an aluminoxane. CONSTITUTION:A 3-25C alpha-olefin (e.g. propylene) is copolymerized with an alkenylsilane (e.g., trimethylallylsilane) using a catalyst composed of a transition metal compound containing cyclopentadiene or a derivative thereof [e.g. ethylene bis(4,5,6,7-tetrahydroinderlyl) zirconium dichloride] and an aluminoxane (e.g. methylaluminoxane) to afford the aimed copolymer having stereoregular alpha-olefin chains, 0.01-50wt.% content of an alkenylsilane unit and >=0.01 intrinsic viscosity determined at 135 deg.C in a tetralin solution.
