<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly safe and economically advantageous compound represented by formula (I). <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the carbapenem derivative is carried out as follows. The compound represented by formula (I) is treated with a Grignard reagent.
