An arrangement for conveying. a load 26 includes a horizontal stationary platform of slats 22 and a horizontal movable platform which comprises a plurality of connected sections so as to be capable of longitudinal flexure in a vertical plane. Each section is constituted by two girders 5 interconnected by cross-members 4 to which are secured combshaped members 3 carrying slats 2. The sections are interconnected by fish-plates 9 (Fig. 1) and each section is subjected to the action of four independent jacks 7, two to each girder 5, to raise it. Reciprocating horizontal movement of the movable platform is obtained by a single jack 13 pivoted to a bracket 14 and to a terminal depending section 11 of the first extreme section. The fish plates 9 may be replaced by torsion bars 29 (Fig. 5). The slats 2 have vertical depending projections 17 each with a horizontal hook 18 respectively held in notches 15 and ports 16 in the cross-members 3 by a bar 21 secured to the cross-members 3. |
