PURPOSE:To realize highly accurate and highly reliable discrimination of the position of a rotor for a motor by conducting high-frequency electric power through the motor to detect currents, which flow through respective exciting coils, and comparing them. CONSTITUTION:Respective exciting coils are regulated so as to have substantially same B-H characteristics and inductance. The effective inductances of respective exciting coils are detected in accordance with the polarity of an approximate pole, the strength of a magnetic pole and a distance to the approximate pole. The detected results of respective coils are compared to discriminate previously a positional relation between the magnetic pole of a rotor 2 and a soft magnetic body, around which the coils are wound. In a period of time wherein an electric power is not supplied from a power supply 4 after the driving voltage of a motor is impressed on exciting windings 11, 12 and the rotation of the rotor 2 in the direction of an arrow 3 in a diagram is started, the position of the rotor 2 is discriminated while applying a high-frequency voltage. |
