A universal joint or resilient suspension means, e.g. for mounting an engine in a rocket to allow universal movement for guiding, comprises an intermediate member consisting of two beams 14, 16, crossed at an angle less than or equal to 90 degrees, to which the input member 32 is fixed by flat steel springs 18, 20 and 22, and to which output members 34, 36 are fixed by similar springs 24, 26, 28 and 30, the members 32, 34 and 36 fitting with travel gaps on the helical abutment edges 15, 17 and 17A of the beams 14, 16. The member 32 may be separated along line 35 to form two input members, and the members 34, 36 may be formed as one. The beams 14, 16 may be cast or moulded of metal or plastics, and may be formed from separate members welded or otherwise fixed together. The members 32, 34 and 36 are provided with mounting bolts 38, 40, 42 and 44 for attachment to the rocket body and engine respectively. |
