A thermoplastic composition having controlled release insecticidal properties comprises a cellulose acetate having an acetic acid content of from 50 to 60%, from 10 to 40% of the composition of a phthalic acid alkyl ester plasticizer and from 10 to 35% of the composition of di-methyl-2, 2-dichlorovinylphosphate. Carbodiimide may be included as stabilizer for the cellulose acetate. The composition may be formed into foils, ribbons and strips.
