1287667 Rolling mills FRIEDRICH ROCKS 4 Dec 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 57686/70 Heading B3M A three-roller skew rolling mill includes a lower roll 8, Fig. 1, supported in a fixed lower frame 2, and a pair of upper rolls 10 and 12 supported in respective frames 4 and 6 which are pivoted at 30 and 32 to the frame 2. The frames 4 and 6 can thus be pivoted outwardly by rams 64 and 66 so that the rolls 10 and 12 are swung to the position shown in Fig. 2. The three rolls are then accessible for replacement. The frames 4 and 6 are normally held together by a lever 44 which is pivoted to the frame 6 and co-operates with a lug 50 on the frame 4. The lever is operated by a ram 48, and centring of the frames is ensured by a dowel 56. Associated with the chocks of the lower roll 8 is a shoot 100 for discharging any scale or water present during rolling. The shoot moves with the chocks during adjustment of the roll and co-operates with a fixed funnel 104. |
