Hair is dyed using a dispensing package containing a pressure propellant and a twopart hair dye composition which are mixed at the time of dispensing, one part comprising an aqueous solution of an oxidative dye precursor containing an alkaline material at least 50 mole per cent of which is mono- or di-ethanolamine, monoisopropanolamine, di-ethylamine or diglycolamine or mixtures thereof, the other part comprising aqueous hydrogen peroxide at pH 2.5 to 6.5 the amount of alkali being enough to provide a pH of 7.5 to 12 in the composition after mixing. Preferably 0.1 to 2.0 per cent by weight of the total composition is hydrogen peroxide, and a water soluble salt of a C 8-22 fatty acid may be present. |
