1,238,245. Rotary drum filters. H. W. NILSSON. 1 April, 1969 [3 April, 1968], No. 16948/69. Heading B1D. A filter drum has its strainer surface 28 formed with circumferential fold lines each supported internally by a circumferential row of triangular plates 26, each plate being inclined rearwardly at 20‹-40‹ to the radial plane P of the drum where it intersects its base. The plates 26 are mounted on beams 15 extending between the end walls of the drum. One end wall has an inlet (11, Fig. 1, not shown) for suspension to be filtered. As described, the apparatus is similar to that of Specification 1,060,367. The top of the drum is cleaned by blasts of air, the dislodged matter falling into a funnel (35) inside the drum. The drum deck may be made in several arcuate segments (part of one such is shown in Fig. 3). Plates 26 may have their margins 34 bent forwardly so as to act like shovels. It is stated that the inclination of the plates 26 helps retain cake until blasted off. |
