<p>Steam is blown into mixt. directly before filling into a mould, in modification of the parent patent for prodn. of mixed concrete articles by mixing pre-foamed non-aged polystyrene pellets of 3 mm dia. aggregates e.g. sand, and cement in a mixer and subsequently treating with steam. Pref. steam press. is 8 atmos. over-pressure and blowing-in period is 35 secs. in order to heat mixt. to 60-70 degrees C. By effecting steam-blowing before moulding, it is possible to (1) use cheaper, simpler moulds, (2) consume less energy as total mould need not be heated.</p> |
