The coaxial connector has a short length and broadband matching and acts as a transition from large-diameter to small-diameter coaxial cables in the GHz region. The transition affects both the outer and the inner conductors. The total length of the transition of the inner and outer conductors together is roughly equal to 1/3 the inner diamter of the larger coaxial cable's outer conductor. The inner conductor of the smaller cable is held by dielectric ring (6) before its first change in cross-section.
