The tape (10) has draw cords (12) floating in alternating stretches along one side and has an uninterrupted constant stiffness which allows a more favourable handling of the tape so that when the latter is stitched onto the curtain it remains firm beneath the presser foot of the machine. The draw cords ared taken up in hollow tubular areas (11) which are formed from parts of the upper and lower fabric sections. These are stabilised by binding threads (15, 16) which connect the upper and lower fabrics (18, 19) together in relatively short intervals along the length of the tape. The stiffness of the tape can be achieved by working the same amt. of material in the warp and weft directions over the entire tape length in a continuous processing technique.
