<p>Heat storage installation, intended mainly for heating buildings, water for pools or for feeding the exchangers of heat pumps, utilises an excavation hollowed in the ground and contg. a fluid suitable for the storing of heat. It comprises storage modules placed side by side, each module being constituted by the vol. of fluid contd. in an excavation and by the neighbouring ground, the surface sepg. the ground and the fluid being fluid-tight and the set of modules being provided with a cover for thermal insulation. Installation includes also means of causing a second heat transfer fluid, pref. air, to circulate through the storage modules in thermal contact with the modules. This second fluid carries away heat stored in the installation. A free space is contrived between each air-tight pocket and the cover and the second heat transfer fluid circulates in this free space. The heat transfer fluid constitutes a dynamic insulating screen which fulfils, in addn. to the thermal transfer function, a second function, which is to recover a part of the heat lost by the storage pockets, by conduction, radiation and convection, and to reduce the temp. difference between the zones situated on either side of the cover. The second fluid constitutes a heat buffer when it is at rest and participates in the insulation.</p> |
