A chock protection device as used in rock climbing is wedge shaped for jamming in a tapered crack in the rock face, and is designed to carry a looped tie-piece or sling C. The body of the chock comprises two mating parts, namely a hollow wedge shaped outer- body or sheath A the exterior of which fits the rock crack, and an inner-body or core B which is wedge shaped to match and fit the sheath interior. The core is provided with a central groove, proportioned to suit the sling section, running continuously around two opposite wedge faces and the intermediate curved thick end. On assembly this curved end of the core protrudes from the sheath. A pull on the sling draws the core into the sheath and jams the sheath in the crack. <IMAGE> |
