PURPOSE: A method for managing priority for bus use in a shared-bus packet switch system is provided to give priority for high bus use to a specific MAC(Media Access Control) port, according to changes of traffic by adding a control form by a priority controller to a polling form. CONSTITUTION: A method for managing priority for bus use in a shared-bus packet switch system comprises the steps of: a PSM(Polling State Machine) examining a plurality of MAC(Media Access Control) ports status; the PSM recording the MAC ports status; and deciding a MAC port to use a next bus among the MAC ports. The PSM records the MAC ports status, by renewing the MAC ports status in real time to a MAC status register in the step of recording the MAC ports status. A MAC port having highest priority for a next bus use is decided, by referring to the MAC status register and traffic information between each MAC port, a packet switch module, and the MAC port priority which is set before operating a system, in the step of deciding the MAC port to use a next bus.
