PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To irradiate the keyboard of a notebook-sized personal computer by utilizing rays of light of the back light of a liquid crystal display device without impairing the intensity of the liquid crystal display device when the personal computer is used in a dark place or the like in a liquid crystal display device which is mounted to the personal computer. SOLUTION: This display device is a liquid crystal display device which has a liquid crystal display element, a frame member which is arranged at the side of the display surface of the element and has a display window and has side walls at surroundings and has a side wall which is arranged at the side opposite to the display surface of the element at surroundings and, moreover, the housing member of the display device has a plurality of first opening parts making a part of the irradiation light from the light source of the display device emit at the surface of the side opposed to the display surface of the display element of at least one side of the side walls of the surroundings and the frame member has a plurality of second opening parts at positions corresponding to the plurality of first opening parts provide in the side wall of the housing member on at least one side opposed to the display surface of the display element.
