In a hollow profile (1, 2, 4) for window and door frames, an inlay profile (6) of foamed polyurethane is inserted in a few chambers (5). Such a profile can be produced in that the hollow profile (1, 2, 4) and the inlay profile are coextruded, or in that the inlay profile (6) is pushed into the hollow profile (1, 2, 4) and the two profiles are thereafter welded together by heating.
