PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid battery capable of securing a lifetime for a long period.

SOLUTION: The lead acid battery has an electrode plate group housed in a battery case. The electrode plate group has a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate laminated through a separator. A powder rolled sheet 27 in which powder of lead alloy containing tin 1.5 wt.% is rolled out and formed in sheet form is used as a current collector 28 respectively for the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate. The powder rolled sheet 27 is laminated doubly by being folded up into two. The laminated powder rolled sheet 27 is made in one body by a punching work or an expanding work. A positive electrode active material paste and a negative electrode active material paste are respectively coated on the current collector 28. Thereby, deformation due to corrosion of the powder rolled sheet 27 is suppressed, and the thickness of the current collector 28 is increased.
