APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REPAIRING DEFECT IN PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

A method and an apparatus for repairing a defect in a plasma display panel are provided to accurately detect a shape of the defect by measuring a shape of a wall in a 3D image. A measuring portion(110) measures a 3D image of a wall formed between a pair of glass plates of a plasma display device. A removal image calculator(120) compares the measured shape with a predetermined image and outputs a removal image by using a compared result. A removal signal generator(130) calculates data with respect to a contour, an intensity, an irradiation time, and cross-sections of a laser beam for removing the removal image, and outputs the result as a removal signal. A laser irradiator(140) irradiates the laser beam with an adjustable cross-section toward a wall. A laser beam controller(150) changes at least one of the contour, intensity, irradiation time, and cross-sections of the laser beam according to the removal signal.
