PURPOSE:To improve yield strength on the high temp. side and also to improve toughness after hot rolling by adding specific amounts of Ta and Nb together with Y in a heat resisting stainless steel foil used for catalyst support for combustion exhaust gas cleaning and consisting of an Fe-Cr-Al alloy having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:This stainless steel foil has a composition which consists of, by weight, >0.01-0.5% Y, 4.5-6.5% Al, 13-25% Cr, <=0.025% C, <=0.02% N, (181.C%/12+181.N%/14)X1.5 to 3% of Ta and/or (93.C%/12+93.N%/14)x0.8 to 3% of Nb, and the balance iron and in which C+N<=0.03% and Ta+Nb<=3% are satisfied. Because Y content is regulated to the above value in order to improve oxidation resistance and also yield strength on the high temp. side can be controlled by the addition of Ta and Nb, the foil having high durability can be obtained. Further, because the toughness of a hot rolled plate can be remarkably improved by the addition of Ta and Nb, this foil can be mass-produced by the ordinary stainless steel producing process. |
